Founder-Executive Director

  • Parneet Kaur is the Founder of Poetry for Planet, an initiative that aims to reshape the climate narrative by integrating diverse, underrepresented voices through the medium of poetry. As an emerging Indian poet, she debuted at COP15 in Montreal in December 2022 and has since performed at international platforms like COP28 in Dubai and the UNFCCC's Paris Committee on Capacity Building (PCCB). Through Poetry for Planet, Parneet focuses on addressing climate issues with a decolonial and intersectional perspective, using creative storytelling to bring attention to marginalized communities and their role in the climate conversation.

In 2023, Parneet was the Senior Associate of Y20 during India’s G20 Presidency, where she worked on themes such as the Future of Work and advocated for the inclusion of indigenous perspectives in the Y20 communique. Her contributions were also highlighted at the World Food Forum in Rome, where she spoke on the importance of youth leadership in shaping sustainable food systems.

In 2021, she founded Girl Up Zubaan, an initiative that seeks to empower marginalized women in India through an intersectional feminist lens. Parneet has also worked as an Advisor to JED Child Trust Foundation, a Nigerian NGO focused on enhancing access to quality education for African students.

Her commitment to climate action and social issues extends to her work as the Impact Officer of the Global Shapers Hub, Chandigarh under the World Economic Forum, and as the Assistant Secretary of Chandigarh United Nations Association. Through her involvement with the Indigenous Solidarity Working Group within YOUNGO, Parneet has worked to elevate the voices of indigenous women, particularly in the context of climate change.

Parneet has been recognized as one of the 100 'Leaders of Tomorrow' at the St. Gallen Symposium and was selected as a Max Thabiso Edkins Climate Ambassador by the World Bank’s Global Youth Climate Network (GCGN), where she first developed the concept for Poetry for Planet. Her work continues to focus on bringing creative solutions to the forefront of climate advocacy and ensuring marginalized communities are included in global discussions on sustainability.
